Discuss 1 of your beliefs and why you have taken that stand?

well this what i wrote today :P

time is precious! why i have taken that stand? since whatever time that is lost cannot be redeemed back. neither can we save time (deposit) then retrieve back for use later on, though that would be cool.
time is fair to everyone, with 24 hours a day, 1440 mins, 86400 seconds. so it really depends on how we spend the time. for me, i would lay on my bed before i sleep and ask myself what have i done today, with the 24hours i was given to live on this earth? if what i have done was not satisfactory, i would think about which portion of the day was wasted, not use properly. if what i have done was satisfactory, i would see on how i could improve myself further.
therefore time management also plays a part in this.

Share how you systematically went about solving the problem today. Also share a little on how you would systematically plan for the next 6 years of your life.

well this was the reflection journal i wrote for today :P

we learnt about being systematic lol
Since systematically means following a set of rules or guidelines, the steps that we use to solve problem for today.
Going through what we have learnt for the past few problems, to refresh our memory. when we are done with that, we went onto the problem statement to see if it requires any knowledge from any of the problems we have learnt from the past few problems of cognitive. (ERS, sameness, holistic and atomistic)
after which we went on to do our PDT where we discuss as a group about what we know, what we don't know and what we want to find out.

after which we did the worksheet, which we do and discuss as a group.
after all that, i somehow got involed in a discussion with a few people from our class, that pretty much solves the problem after all that i guess, from my point of view, though the 6P eventually clears off any other doubts.

how i would systematically plan for the next 6 years of my life?
obvious i would have to finish my education in RP first, by doing so i can graduate and get my diploma (2 years later) whiel doing so, since i take piano, i would have probably finished my diploma in piano cert. after i graduate, the 2 years would be taken from be since i ahve to server NS, that being said, total of 4 years gone. after all that, i would probably be in some university, furthering my studies in the arts industry, preferably music related, since my course in RP (sonic arts) and my
background in music would put me in someform of advantage.

How can I improve my effectiveness in today's lesson?

today's lesson was still more on illustrator xD
i can improve my effectiveness in today's lesson by, managing my time more effectively. ways to do that would probably be setting a goal, for example, forcing one to finish a certain portion in a set amount of time. another would be to remove distractions, such as facebook, msn, games? etc etc, this would ensure higher effectiveness in my work completion.

Pick one design (not your own group’s) that in your opinion best reflects Singapore’s cultural and national identity. Why is it superior to those of other groups? What else can be improved about it?

yo sup guys, wasn't really feeling very good recently, plus with all the holiday, i spend at home sleeping lol

anyways, today we went to the national musuem of Singapore, where we had to get inspiration to design a costume for some event lol

anyways heres the reflection i wrote for the day :D

i didnt exactly see other group's work, since the only group's work was dennis's group, and it was when it was in sketch mode (not complete). in my opinion, it best reflects Singapore's cultural and national identity, since it shows the national crest and stars?, instead of it on the clothes it self, they came up with the idea of designing a headgear for that specifically for that purpose. as for the rest, i dont really remember?

anyways it was tiring and now felling extremely tired, what was your day like today?

What insights did I gain today?

well what i learned today was about some adobe program called illustrator, so yeah

well insights or knowledge i gained today, was that
photoshop and illustrator are similar in many ways, and
yet in many ways.

like for examples, the common tool in both programs are
used, like free transform, etc
the difference being that photoshop, as the name
suggests, is more editing photos, while-as the
illustrator is more of a vector application.

How well did my ideas work in helping my team generate a good solution to the problem?

i sort of gave the main idea for what our group presented, we made use of the idea which we started with, then made some changes to the story abit. my idea sort of created a base for the solution to the problem.

okey for those of you guys wondering wtf is this?
its what i write for my Reflection Journal for my school. it is graded and these are the words i wrote.
so far it has been good for my previous semester where i got 3.7 GPA lol :D

oh ya btw

What were the learning obstacles faced and what strategies/ approaches were used to help resolve that? If they have not been resolved today, what then are the strategies you would try to solve them?

the question asked today for my reflection journal lol

learning obstacles faced, were many people trying to get their points to other team members at the same time.

strategies used to resolve is that we as a team, try to limit to one person voicing their view, otherwise, the discussion would turn out messy and would probably make no sense and cause confusion.

if they have not been resolved today, the approach i would use to solve the problem would be to appoint one of the team members to stop others, when one person is talking.

Thoughts experiments

SCHOOL TODAY WAS CONFUSING, like extremely
we had to learn something about thoughts experiments...

anyways the quiz we had was below, what would you have answered lol

QUESTION:

Imagine a monkey hitting keys at random on a typewriter keyboard for an infinite amount of time. It will almost surely type a given text, such as the complete works of William Shakespeare.

MY ANSWER: yes it can.

so the hypothesis is that randomness can result in some form of order, by hitting keys at random, a given text can be typed.

so instead of starting with the problem with a long text, we start with short words, for example a 3 letter word. with 26 possibility because of alphabets, we take 26^3=17576

meaning for a specific 3 letter word to be produced, when randomly pressing the keys, chances of it getting the 3 letter word that we want is 1 out of 17576.

we can use that to test in the experiment, by randomly pressing 3 keys then recording the results.

since this claim can be tested empirically, it means that it can be verified.

How can I improve my effectiveness in my team?

how can i improve effectiveness in my team? i can first discuss how we are to tackle the problem which we have for the day, then propose possible solutions/methods that we can use to solve the problem. then after that we can split parts of the workload to different team members, after a certain period of time, we would get together, and share what we have done, learned so that other people will also learn what we are doing. therefore the effectiveness in my team would increase. we could also use our strength and weakness to our advantage. therefore everyone in the group is able to contribute and share with others. the portions that they are weak in, will be helped by other team mates hence also improving social relationships.

hahas now at least i am creating my OWN CONTENT, GOOGLE ADSENSE... READ THIS

(1) Please share one of your personal strength and how you can leverage on it in class. (2) Please share one of your personal weakness and how you can overcome it.

ok so my school has this system where you have to write this reflection journal before the day is up. and that affects the grades for the day. since it feels like a blog post( which my good friend reminded me)
so i thought i should post up here.

personal strength... well my personal strength would be somewhat related to music, since i took piano as an interest since young that would probably be a personal strength i can think of now. as to how i can leverage on it in class? probably play a few of my composition during break times to relief stress? i don't think thats feasible lol.

okey personal weakness. one of my personal weakness that i would have would be procrastination. yes its a bad quality i have, i have to admit. but i have somewhat overcome it bit by bit, with the help of my good teammates and good friends that constantly remind me not to procrastinate. so you can say i have made improvements on my personal weakness since i don't really procrastinate much now.

Fifteen Things God Won’t Ask

Author: Unknown! AGAIN?!

God won’t ask what kind of car you drove, but will ask how many people you drove who didn’t have transportation.
God won’t ask the square footage of your house, but will ask how many people you welcomed into your home.
God won’t ask about the fancy clothes you had in your closet, but will ask how many of those clothes helped the needy.
God won’t ask about your social status, but will ask what kind of class you displayed.
God won’t ask how many material possessions you had, but will ask if they dictated your life.
God won’t ask what your highest salary was, but will ask if you compromised your character to obtain that salary.
God won’t ask how much overtime you worked, but will ask if you worked overtime for your family and loved ones.
God won’t ask how many promotions you received, but will ask how you promoted others.
God won’t ask what your job title was, but will ask if you reformed your job to the best of your ability.
God won’t ask what you did to help yourself, but will ask what you did to help others.
God won’t ask how many friends you had, but will ask how many people to whom you were a true friend.
God won’t ask what you did to protect your rights, but will ask what you did to protect the rights of others.
God won’t ask in what neighborhood you lived, but will ask how you treated your neighbors.
God won’t ask about the color of your skin, but will ask about the content of your character.
God won’t ask how many times your deeds matched your words, but will ask how many times they didn’t.

ok, Im an atheist, so i don't really believe in god now, but this story makes us think about how we did we contribute to the community around us.

Lessons Learned

Once again, author is unknown, seriously? why dont people put their names lol

One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live.
They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?”
“It was great, Dad.”
“Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.
“Oh yeah,” said the son.
“So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.
The son answered: “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
“We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight.
“We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
“We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.”
The boy’s father was speechless.
Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

Just Five More Minutes

Again Author unknown, this made me reflect on my time spent with my loved ones, so i though i should share with you guys

While at the park one day, a woman sat down next to a man on a bench near a playground.
“That’s my son over there,” she said, pointing to a little boy in a red sweater who was gliding down the slide.
“He’s a fine looking boy” the man said. “That’s my daughter on the bike in the white dress.”
Then, looking at his watch, he called to his daughter. “What do you say we go, Melissa?”
Melissa pleaded, “Just five more minutes, Dad. Please? Just five more minutes.”
The man nodded and Melissa continued to ride her bike to her heart’s content. Minutes passed and the father stood and called again to his daughter. “Time to go now?”
Again Melissa pleaded, “Five more minutes, Dad. Just five more minutes.”
The man smiled and said, “OK.”
“My, you certainly are a patient father,” the woman responded.
The man smiled and then said, “Her older brother Tommy was killed by a drunk driver last year while he was riding his bike near here. I never spent much time with Tommy and now I’d give anything for just five more minutes with him. I’ve vowed not to make the same mistake with Melissa.
She thinks she has five more minutes to ride her bike. The truth is, I get Five more minutes to watch her play.”
Life is all about making priorities, what are your priorities?
Give someone you love 5 more minutes of your time today!

Is God watching us?

ahhh… the ever roving eyes of GOD.

Trees That Wood

Got this from a chain message that seemed extremely inspiring IMO

Author was stated as unknown so yeah

Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty."
Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull."
Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me."
After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter" ... and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest.
At the second tree a woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree, I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship.
When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree so I'll take this one", and he cut it down.
When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces and left alone in the dark. The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams.
Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time. Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and he stood and said "Peace" and the storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat.
Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, He will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.

Inspirational Quotes from Albert Einstein

More to read here, enjoy :D

"Now he has departed from this strange world a little ahead of me. That means nothing. People like us, who believe in physics, know that the distinction between past, present, and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion."

"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."

"One had to cram all this stuff into one's mind for the examinations, whether one liked it or not. This coercion had such a deterring effect on me that, after I had passed the final examination, I found the consideration of any scientific problems distasteful to me for an entire year."

"...one of the strongest motives that lead men to art and science is escape from everyday life with its painful crudity and hopeless dreariness, from the fetters of one's own ever-shifting desires. A finely tempered nature longs to escape from the personal life into the world of objective perception and thought."

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.

"Not everything that counts can be counted, and not everything that can be counted counts." (Sign hanging in Einstein's office at Princeton)
